Department of Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology, College of Medicine, Qassim University established in 2001. The College of Medicine was the first college in Saudi Arabia based on Problem Base Learning (PBL). The department is committed to education, research and patient care related to diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes.

The Department of Dermatology is focused on the education of future physicians on the subject of dermatology. The department runs a dermatology course for undergraduate medical students parallel with the internal medicine course in the fourth year of their medical college and dissemination of culture among students to be able to establish education campaigns for dermatology community.

Goals: Our aim is to train the medical students in dermatology in such a way that at the end of the course they are able to diagnose and manage common and emergency dermatological conditions. Also to increase awareness among the community about skin diseases and ways to prevent some of them if possible.

The faculty members of the department are dedicated to understanding and managing all aspects of skin and its diseases. The department treats dermatology patients in all age groups through their outpatient dermatology clinics and the referrals from other departments.

Our faculty is committed to the highest level of basic and clinical research in dermatology science. The members of our faculty conduct the latest cutting edge research designed to understand the basics of common dermatologic conditions like acne, psoriasis, vitiligo, alopecia areata and atopic dermatitis and other dermatological diseases. This research will lead to understanding pathogenesis of these diseases and hence the development of new treatment options, better drugs and revolutionary medical technology.
